Here's a toast to everyone's good health in Year 2021! Kombucha is a probiotic drink; and good health begins in the gut, right? Cheers!!
During Christmas, we were given a jug of homemade Kombucha tea, with freshly-baked sourdough bread. PLUS, starter ingredients to make our very own of the same. Wow, a gift that keeps on giving 😃😋😀
Homemade Kombucha
Ingredients
Kombucha Starter Liquid
Kombucha Scoby
A lot of honey
Green Tea (other tea might work, but green tea works the best)
Make about 2 liters of green tea, add the honey and once cooled down, simply pour it in the jar 🙂
(2 liters = 8.45 cups)
First Fermentation
Fill your pot with 2 liters of FILTERED water.
Bring the pot of water to a boil and remove from heat. Add the green tea and add the honey when it has cooled down a bit. Make sure that your tea tastes VERY sweet. If you cannot clearly taste the honey, add more honey
Once water has cooled down, transfer it to your Kombucha starter-liquid large jar.
Cover the large jar with a kitchen towel and rubber band. Keep in a slightly warm spot.
Let the liquid sit in the large jar for 3-6 days. Start tasting it after a few days, and then every few days until it’s to your desired taste
Second Fermentation
Put your Kombucha into bottles until 75% full.
Add chopped fruits to your liking (berries, etc)
Open the bottles everyday (or “burp” the Kombucha)
4. Enjoy after 3-4 days of waiting. You may also pour into individual cups.
