Nail Art: Acrylic Nails, Part 1

gel nails with rhinestones
In spite of the ongoing Covid19 Pandemic, we are travelling across the pond once again.

I make it a point to get my nails done on important trips.

It is usually gel nails for me: a few seconds under UV-lights make the finish tough, long-lasting, beautiful.

This time, I tried acrylic nails. Powders plus formula; and boom -- the nails supposedly are equally long-lasting and beautiful. It's my first time to try them, so we shall see.

My inspiration as far as main nail color:

Bath Tubs & MacKenzie-Childs, New York

A beautiful  MC-inspired bathroom was recently posted on the MacKenzie Childs blog.  My first thought was: Been there! I was personally at that said bathroom in 2019 during their last live MC Barn Sale event.  See my pictures below.  So happy that Hubby had agreed to go out of his way after our Family Reunion in Canada.

This year will be two years in a row that MC will not hold their annual barn sale. Darn you, Covid 19! 😕😠

Barn Sale 2021

After careful consideration, we have decided to hold our iconic Barn Sale only online again this summer to keep our customers and employees safe during these uncertain times.

For those who enjoy shopping MacKenzie-Childs in person, you can look forward to the launch of The Outlet in Aurora, New York, which opens in May. This store, which replaces the current store in Aurora, will be our permanent, full-time outlet and will stock the types of items that are historically carried at the Barn Sale.

To learn more details about the Online Barn Sale, including when it will be held, and The Outlet in Aurora, sign up for email updates or follow us on Instagram and Facebook. (by MC email)

The Cheapest Macarons While in Europe

We love 😋 Macarons. Here in the USA our most inexpensive source is Costco (approximately 45 cents each;  small size, see picture below).

We loved eating Macarons while on our recent vacay to Germany and Turkey too. We found that the Macarons in Istanbul were a little bigger, fresher, and cheaper --- at 60 cents each (USD)!!

Compare that price to approx. $4 each in Wiesbaden, Germany; and $6 each in Dublin, Ireland per our friend, whoa 😦

Nail Art: Gucci-like

I liked these nail, but sans the Gucci logo. What could my Manicurist do for me at her humble, little nail salon?

prep work!

My No-chip Gel Nails Pre Covid19 Lockdown

It takes prep work by my Manicurist to pretty-up my nails.  Then, there's the intricacies of the work itself. Not that she does not get paid well, mind you. She should be wealthy from what I've spent at her nail salon thru the years, LoL.

My fave about my nails --- they last and do not chip!  Great for vacation time and special events. Especially great for this season of Covid-19.

Naeem Khan: Designer of Wedding Gowns (& Face Masks)

Duchess Kate Middleton wearing a Naeem Khan embroidered dress at the Taj Mahal, India

Designer Naeem Khan is  best known for his gorgeous, at times intricate  clothes. I especially luv, luv, luv his stunning wedding gowns (first launched in 1983).
Take a glimpse at these beauties below.  Mr Khan has also done a limited amount of (signed) daily face masks and I happily managed to snag one.

I have 2 unmarried daughters.  When the time comes for their weddings, Lord willing, I may nudge them towards this man and  take seriously the designs Mr Khan has to offer. Just gorgeous!!

During Covid-19 season, face masks are the fashion accessories!  My usual masks are my Mackenzie-Childs face masks made with genuine MC cloth. Both purchased from eBay. My current fave is my Naeem Khan daily mask expertly sewn using cloth made with Italian hemp. It's adjustable, comfortable, washable,  breathable (to me) and authographed - whoa!
